Help/FAQ
What is speed dating?
Speed dating is a new and highly successful form of meeting
new people. You will meet a minimum of 10 people for just over
7 minutes each and decide if you want to go out on another date
with that person.
Will I meet people of all ages?
No. All events are age compatible. We have many different age
and interest groups for our events and we specify the age of the
women and men. Some of the interest groups will also include
single parents, Christian singles, Jewish singles, etc.
How are the table assignments and rotation of
people determined?
Each person has 10 dates. The table assignments and rotation of
people is predetermined at random by the Dating Events
coordinator. If there is someone you wish to meet and you do not have
a "date" with, then you should make every attempt to speak with them
during the intermission, or "mix & mingle" after the last date.
How long are your events?
That all depends on how long you stay for at the "mix & mingle" afterwards.
Typically, events average between one and a half and two hours in length.
What should I talk about on my "dates?"
There are many topics that you can talk about on
your date. When you sign in for the event, you'll receive a packet
that includes an insert with many questions you might ask. Remember,
you are trying to find out if you're compatible, and a seven and a half
minutes isn't much time. You want to discuss topics that help determine if you
would want to go on another date. Here are a few questions that you might ask:
- What kind of work do you do?
- What do you do for fun?
- Do you have any hobbies?
- What is your favorite movie this year? Of all time?
- Who is your favorite musician?
- Do you like sports? Which?
- Where are you from?
- Do you like pets? Have pets?
- What's the best trip you've ever taken?
- Where would you like to go if you could go anywhere?
What should I not talk about?
Dating Events tries to create a safe and comfortable environment.
Therefore we ask you not to ask questions that are too personal, especially
the following:
- Do not ask or give out your contact information
This includes email, telephone #, or a business card.
If both people agree to a match, the contact information
will then be provided to both people.
- Do not ask someone out on another date.
- Be polite and respectful. Do not ask any lewd or sexually explicit
questions. Do not say or do anything that may be considered threatening
or illegal. If you feel uncomfortable, please tell your event
coordinator.
What is the proper attire to wear to an event?
It is obviously up to you, but we recommend casual professional. You should
wear something comfortable and represents how you normally dress on a date.
How much does an event cost?
The events vary in price depending on the venue,
when you sign up, the food, and if there is any entertainment.
Prices in the past have ranged anywhere from $29-$159 per event,
but generally are about $35-$45.
How long does it take to find out if I have any matches?
You drop off your matches with us at the end of the event, and guarantee the results
will be returned to you within 48 hours.
I am separated, but not yet divorced. Can I participate?
Our events are all about people meeting people. If you want to meet
people - you are more than welcome to attend. However, not everyone will
necessarily be comfortable with your situation.
How do I know if I am confirmed for an event?
You will receive an email or a telephone call to confirm your spot at the event.
How can I pay for the event?
Online signups are handled securely through PayPal®
with your Visa or MasterCard. We can also process your Visa or MasterCard over the phone,
and accept checks via the mail (please include your contact information for us) -- see our
contact page for our mailing address.
How do you guarantee a match?
If you don't meet someone you want to date again, your next event with us is
free.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
If you cancel more than 72 hours prior to an event, you'll receive full credit
to your next event with us. No credit is available less than 72 hours prior to the
event. You may leave someone sitting by themselves.
How many people show up for an event?
